Don’t Skip a Meal – Lesson #13

Now this might sound like an obvious lesson but it is one that really hits home with me-particularly today, day 13 in my 30 days of learning month.

Don’t skip a meal! I made dinner for my family before rushing out the door to a meeting tonight. Despite my husband’s repetitive words, “You are going to eat aren’t you? Just take something with you, ” I left the house on an empty stomach. The meeting I went to only served cashews, walnuts, cheese and some crackers…(groan with me now) not enough to satisfy my hunger. I hung around the nut table like an animal at a feeding trough.

I just polished off a couple of pieces of peanut butter and toast with a glass of chocolate milk (not exactly the “breakfast” of champions). I now feel full, slightly uncomfortable and not the slightest bit ready for bed.

This is not the first time I have missed a meal. The worst meal for me to miss is lunch. I wind up with a severe headache and a feeling beyond hunger. Not very swift.

Please note I do not do this intentionally – just very poor planning really. For anyone reading this who skips meals for “dieting” purposes I would urge you to reconsider this strategy. It is not healthy for your body…I KNOW because I have experienced the side-effects (listed above).

Eat. Take your time. Enjoy your meal. In fact…make time to eat and enjoy your meal (this is sooooo directed at myself).

I am going to vow to take a lot more time for myself when I have a meeting so I can fuel up before I head out. Lesson learned.

Remember one person can make a difference…that one person is YOU!

With love (and a slightly bloated feeling which I hope will pass over night),

Inspired friend xo
