DAY 4 of 30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE – Singing!

Singing – HAHAHA – what a silly thing to be grateful for isn’t it?! It’s not like I am Beyonce after all.

But seriously let me tell you why?!

While I am certainly not a Songstress (although I DO have to admit I sound pretty dang good in the shower). I have grown up with singing around me.

My mother had the most beautiful voice! She sounded like Barbra Streisand – For REAL! We had a great big green book of  sheet music with classic songs and every Sunday morning my mom and dad would lay in their bedroom and my mom would sing. My brother, sister and I would scurry into the room, pile on the bed and cuddle up, listening to my mom serenade us, one song after the next!!! (Oooh, just had an overwhelming sense of emotion thinking about that. I haven’t thought about it in so long. Beautiful memories).

My mom also sang while she was cleaning, cooking, driving, waking us up, serving us breakfast. She sang in our family room, with the BOOMING stereo equipment my dad bought her and ALL the windows open so the entire street could hear. It was a signal that all was good, and mom was feeling happy.

You know how we inherit certain things from people in our lives without even knowing it? Yep…well that is one thing that I definitely inherited. I can hold a tune, but nowhere near as well as my beautiful mom could. And for some weird reason I LOVE to song opera.

The funny thing is…when I sing (and I DO sing ALOT, and about everything, to everyone even voice messages to friends and family AND I make up my own songs) I think I sound like Celine Dion and I rhyme like Dr Seuss (delusional but hey, it works for me). The best part of all is that it actually makes me feel ridiculously AMAZING. ENERGIZED! ALIVE!!! HAPPYYY!!!! And yes GRATEFUL that so much JOY can flow through my body, being produced by me alone!!!

The cool thing is that singing can completely alter my mental state to euphoria! that feeling is contagious. When I SING the joy I feel catches on and others do it too. Every time I sing, my girls start singing as well, even though we usually all end of singing different songs simultaneously (great for an insider, maybe not so much for someone just coming on the scene who doesn’t have a clue about where all the chaos and noise is coming from).

So today, I sang! And it felt good!

What are YOU grateful for today?

Never stop believing one person can make a difference…that one person is YOU!
