Day 16 of 30 days of gratitude…my dog!

Hershey Chocolate MacGregor is my chocolate lab.

He is 10 years old but still acts like a puppy (re-read the line above – he is a LAB!).

The other day he got his tail caught in the screen door.  It was a small gash that my hubby and I doctored up and tried to keep clean while he kept chewing off the dressing and bandages.

Today I had to take Hershey to the vet to get his tail checked out. We left the appointment with a shaved tail, a new dressing on his wound and the “cone of shame.”

All the while this sweet little guy has been wagging that darn wounded tail all over the place. During the entire appointment he let out one tiny little wince when he had blood taken. He locked eyes with me while he sat so still as I calmly assured him he was going to be okay and rubbed his head.

He is charging through the house to lay next to one of us, or ON our feet, like a rhino barreling through the forest with his cone, creating mass destruction (knocking over tables, books,  ploughing into doors and legs…), but all he wants is comfort and love.

I love this guy so much. He is PURE kindness and joy. And today, cone of shame and all, I have so much gratitude for our big bundle of chocolatey-sweetness, our boy Hershey.

Never stop believing one person can make a difference…that one person is YOU!
