Day 25 of 30 days of gratitude…unlimited possibility!

As I approach the 7th year of building my laptop business from home (that started out part-time 10-15 hours a week, and has become full-time, 20-25 hours per week), I am reminded of the early days of fear, hesitation and trepidation I had.

Starting anything new is scary. Period. (this pic is my WHY vision card I carried with me everywhere to push me through those early scary times)

There is self doubt, fear of the unknown and nervousness. I have come to learn that  those feelings are all completely normal. In fact they are good….a sign that you are about to stretch your comfort zone.

But perhaps the most awesome thing about beginning something new is the unlimited possibility that YOU create. You begin at ground zero…with NOTHING but an idea, a hope and a VISION…and from that little seed you have the ability to create something as BIG as your vision can hold. Now that’s powerful!

Today as I left a meeting at a coffee shop with an absolutely AMAZING human being that I feel so grateful to know so much better after our coffee-date today, I was FILLED UP with joy and gratitude listening to my girls tell me all about the progress they made on the BIG project they’re working on.

I feel overwhelmed with gratitude 1st) Because I get to enjoy a third summer hanging out with my girls while I build my business and they develop their project,  2nd) Because of the UNLIMITED possibility I chose to believe in almost 7-years-ago when THIS very life-by-design was nothing more than an idea, a wish, a picture in my mind of how I truly wanted to live.

Now as I watch my girls develop their big project, that started with a simple idea, and I see and feel their joy, confidence and excitement grow as they make this a reality for themselves….I acknowledge the brilliance of watching unlimited possibility unfold once again. It is that same power that self development guru Tony Robins refers to as, “Unleashing the power within.”

We ALL have it within us. We just have to acknowledge it and then GO FOR IT, be ALL IN and BELIEVE it is ours to create!

The unlimited possibility that lays within in one of us is pretty darn amazing! TODAY I am truly grateful for it all and the truth that the BEST is YET TO COME!!!

What are YOU dreaming of? What could you do differently to begin to honour your unlimited possibility today?

Never stop believing one person can make a difference…that one person is YOU!

Decide that you are going to live your most amazing life by design.

Day 24 of 30 days of gratitude…health!

Nothing is as important to a good life, arguably, than our health and yet we so often take it for granted. Raising a young daughter who deals with her health condition DAILY (cystic fibrosis), with such grace, strength and resilience is an incredible lesson for all of us who live with her.

She has gone through various phases of resistance to treatment. As a busy young girl Madison did NOT want to stop her activities and do her physio twice a day for an hour each time, not surprising, how many young kids would? Luckily I could do “clapping” physiotherapy on her chest when she was younger.

Today, at the tender young age of 18-years-old, not only am I incredibly grateful for my girl and her great health, but so is SHE. I suppose it’s part of her “maturation” and growing up, mixed with a change of lifestyle, she has just in the past month come to a full appreciation and realization that her health is paramount and something she NEEDS to take full responsibility for, in order to live out all her great big wild ambitions and dreams.

For years, Madison has used a nebulizer machine before her physiotherapy to inhale a saline solution, and on occasions she has had to use the machine to inhale medications. The nebulizers she has used over the years are LARGE, LOUD and SLOW. Fortunately last month, we were able to SERIOUSLY upgrade her machine to the new and improved European model that is finally available in Canada – at a ticket price of $1,500 (No additional health coverage!).

It’s amazing to see how much more effective this is, and as a result, how much MORE she actually does her physiotherapy. It’s gone from an arduous hour a day-twice a day, to about 20 minutes she now does 3 times a day, throughout the day. It is incredibly important that as she grows older and her life and responsibilities increase, she has an easy to implement and easy to travel with system to keep her body and lungs healthy!

So today, I am beyond grateful for our new Pari-nebeulizer and for Madison’s beautiful health!!! It really and truly is the little things that are the BIGGEST things isn’t it!!!

Day 23 of 30 days of gratitude…my brother!

My baby brother, who is of course taller than me, arrived in Toronto last night for a visit from his home in Los Angeles. I picked him up at the airport and gave him a great big squeeze! Thanks to FaceTime – I have “seen” him a lot but I haven’t had him next to me to chat and hug and walk together so we are squeezing in as much of that as we can.

My brother and I were super-close as youngsters and bonded over everything from play-dough and cars to skateboarding and board games. Now our connection is much deeper, he is the BEST uncle to my 3 girls and an incredible go-to-guy for any challenge I face.

I am beyond grateful that my amazing brother has come to town to visit and share his love and light with us!!! Had lunch today at Marche and we are back together again on Friday morning and Saturday before he leaves to go back home!!! My hear is HAPPY!

Day 22 of 30 days of gratitude…sharing inspiration!

We are on our way home from a 24 hour epic adventure to Camp Tanamakoon in Algonquin Park to speak to an all girls camp ranging in age from 4 years old up to mid-20-ish counsellors.

My new best friend Patti Thom, camp director, who I might add, has been with the camp from the age of 4 – as a young camper, and runs the program, so all in, over 50 years, has been inviting me up to speak at their “Be The Change” Day since she saw my flash mob video over eight years ago. She and her campers duplicated the flash mob video a few years ago and did an awesome job!!! Thank heavens she asked me again (a testament to the power of persistence) and thank goodness I was free.

My family drove three hours up and were invited to stay in a cabin at the camp. Patti and the camp owner Kim, along with all the counsellors and campers were the most amazing hosts. This morning was the big event, my 3 girls and I had the great honour of chatting with 200+ students, sharing some of our ventures and instilling in this incredible group of future leaders, the message that “Change Starts with Me” and empowering them to believe that they can do ANYTHING they set their minds and hearts to. We talked about overcoming anxiety and fears to create change that can be bigger than us, bigger than our challenges, that in the process teach us the skill of resilience and give us increased confidence that we can overcome anything and make a difference at any age!

We then asked the girls to go into groups of 10, all different ages, and create posters that shared what they thought change meant to them! HOLY INSPIRING! The ideas these girls came up with and presented in front of the group gave me goosebumps and left me feeling moved and INSPIRED by them to see what change they will create in the coming years.

Grateful for their generous donation to one of our favourite teen self-esteem charities, Arbonne Angels to fund more programs that empower teens to believe change starts with them!!!

My heart and soul is so incredibly FULL to OVERFLOWING with gratitude

for this experience of sharing inspiration BOTH ways. Thank you once again to my amazing friend Patti and to Kim for welcoming us so graciously to your home away from home and letting us experience some of the magic of Camp Tanamakoon!!! With this incredible group….the FUTURE looks very very bright!!

Day 21 of 30 days of gratitude…new adventures!

My hubby and I love to expose the girls to new adventures! We are big believers that it is the single greatest way for them to learn and grow, not to mention the memories that are made

We are not big “campers” but had a beautiful opportunity to visit a camp in Algonquin Park (more on that in tomorrow’s blog). We have arrived on our first visit to this beautiful park and have already enjoyed such an amazing time, including a boat ride from shore and a canoe ride, along with a tour of the amazing Camp Tanamakoon we are visiting for the night.

So today, this glorious Sunday, I am so very grateful for this awesome new adventure to Algonquin Park!!

Day 20 of 30 days of gratitude…forgiveness!

When I UN-intentionally missed my 20th day of gratitude yesterday, after an incredibly busy day,  I woke up early this morning in a self-induced panic. Followed by a moment of reconciliation that allowed me to come to terms with the fact that nothing horrible was going to happen if I missed the day, life would continue and I would pick up where I left off and aim to get back on track with my little 30-day experiment. In that moment, was born the idea for day 20 of gratitude, realizing the gentle art of forgiveness. Something I have had to apply to myself and countless others in a variety of situations.

Forgiveness frees us from the confines of negative judgment (mostly towards ourselves). Forgiveness can also free us from blaming others, from being a victim and harbouring negative energy. Forgiveness recognizes the “human-ness” of ourselves and others and creates a sense of “letting go” of the bad feelings that can bog us down, in order to make room for the GOOD, to try again, only stronger and better, to love ourselves despite our imperfections.

Forgiveness is an incredibly powerful, liberating exercise!

It isn’t “weak” to forgive, and in situations that tug at your heart or cause you pain, forgiveness doesn’t mean you condone “bad behaviour” or compromise your values, it means you recognize it for what it is and choose to release it. Like a big, beautiful sigh, you let it go and move on, stronger for it!

Today, I am grateful for the beautiful, gentle, kind and powerful art of forgiveness….towards myself and others, for both small and bigger misgivings.

Day 19 of 30 days of gratitude…spontaneous silliness!

We just had some Hi8 films from our OLD video camera converted over to DVD’s to view (will be another blog). WOW does time ever go back fast. I shed some tears thinking about how little my babies were and how quickly they have grown. Makes me think about how important it is to ENJOY every moment and take time to just be plain silly – cause that’s what you will remember looking back.

Which brought me to the other day and taking my girls shopping for their birthday. Every day is an adventure with these girls. They fill my life with joy and spontaneous silliness. They make me laugh with their uninhibited brilliance and desire to just have FUN – wherever and whenever the mood strikes them!

LOVE THIS!!! (sorry not sure how to get it to save in here right side up)

Grateful for spontaneous silliness!!! It’s THESE kinds of moments that leave us all with smiles from ear to ear and the phrase, “Thank you for such a fun day,”  repeated to each person, from each person.

When was the last time you did something spontaneous and silly?
