Day 30 of 30 days of gratitude…LOVE!

Well here we are! The final day of 30 days of gratitude, but of course, it isn’t really the end. Everyday there is so much to be grateful for, this is just a tiny fragment of the beauty of my life over the past 30 days!

On top of these posts, there were the regular trials and tribulations of life, including hot flashes (wickedly awesome change of life – AYE AYE AYE), a tragic young death in our family, a celebration of a beautiful friend’s birthday who died far too young, challenging times and everything in between. Because, after all, that IS LIFE!

I KNOW first-hand the power gratitude has to transform us. To change our circumstances, our fortune, our love life, our relationships with everyone who matters…I’ve lived it over and over again in every aspect of my life….and still, at times, I had to sit and THINK about what I have to be grateful for in each new day.

I started this 30-day blog-challenge to get me writing again, writing on one of my favourite topics no less. Writing has always been one of my passions, so this forced me into the daily consistency of it! For that I am grateful to be back on track. As much as it was work to write daily, now that I am on the last day – day 30 – I am struck by how much more I want to write about…how much more I AM so very grateful for – my family, my husband, my career. But in the end I choose to write about what I am grateful for every single day and that is LOVE.

MacGrgeor Family Kim MacGregor Madison MacGregor

Love in all it’s forms. The way it shows up and pulls us through. Love for choice and change, for people and passions, for moving forward and for standing still to catch your breathe. I am grateful for the way love fills my heart and makes it feel electric and alive. Sometimes that happens when I hear my girls laughter through the day, beside me. Sometimes I feel it when I am laying in bed at the end of a day and I feel my husband wrap me in his arms, sometimes it is the grand realization of all the freedom and choice I have worked so hard to create in my business and the overwhelming sense of gratitude and LOVE I feel for all of it.

Gratitude, which is really another word for love, is something I take the time DAILY to look for, to think of. Because if I don’t, it is easy to get caught up in the speed of the day, the demands around us, the tasks that have to be done and forget to see the beauty and LOVE around us that we have to be so grateful for. Gratitude…LOVE…is a daily MUST.

So today, as I wrap up this 30 days of gratitude challenge, I commit to continually live in a state of gratitude because it FEELS so good! Because it creates such magical change. Because it is GROUNDING and LIFTING all at the same time, to the soul, to the heart and to all that matters. It’s not always about what we GET, it’s about HOW WE FEEL and gratitude and LOVE just feel so darn good!

If you don’t have a regular gratitude ritual that you do daily, I highly recommend it. It will change everything about your life. I’ll be writing on that more in an upcoming blog!!!

Thanks for following this – there are MORE great revelations to come.

Day 29 of 30 days of gratitude…beautiful memories!

I just got 6 – 8MM high definition video cartridges back after being converted to DVD’s. These 6 videos are from 17-18+ years ago when our first born, Maddie, was a baby and just learning to talk and walk.

EMOTIONAL? You bet!

I cried from these beautiful memories that make me realize that time goes by waaaayyy to fast! A reminder to savour the moments and spend as much time with our loved ones as we can, and of how precious my baby girls have always been to me!

Maddie cried-feeling a sense of gratitude for the love she has always been surrounded by.  Seeing herself as a baby and toddler and watching what were the beginnings of a wicked sense of humour, a fiery determination in everything she does, a beautiful free-spirit full of imagination and creativity all made her feel a deep sense of gratitude as well.

Gratitude is just one of this magical things that grounds you to your core and reminds you of what is truly important!

Today, I am ever so grateful for beautiful memories (and old home videos)!!

Day 27 of 30 days of gratitude…sleep!

I typically have “off-the-charts” high energy! I get up early and go to bed late because I LOVE everything I do and want to fit in as much as possible.

While I work hard, I have learned the importance of sleep and recuperating to recharge the body and mind, allowing me to start fresh again tomorrow. On the days when I have packed in as much as I possibly can….sleep is a welcome break from the activity.

On our way home from our Camp Tanamakoon trip earlier this week, the girls were chatting and singing their hearts out one minute, then it got silent. When I  looked back to check on them…this is what I saw. Three little angles sound  asleep. They were “spent.” And they were doing exactly what their body needed…when it needed it…sleep!

We had an awesome visit with my brother and a calendar full of activity and meetings (my “highlight reel). The flip side of that is that I have a ridiculous summer cough. and brutal hot flashes that keep me up at night!  Sleep is such a gift to me. So this afternoon, after lunch with my brother and seeing him off to the airport for his return flight to LA, we went to my in-laws for supper. Where I promptly fell asleep (for a good half of our visit).

The awesome thing was, there was NO judgment from anyone – and I got to catch up on a couple of hours of much needed sleep (which will recharge my adrenal glands LOL)!

Give yourself grace the odd day, to heal, recover and recoup, so you can jump back in and go full steam tomorrow!!! Today rest…tomorrow full steam ahead!

Today I am so very grateful for the healing powers of sleep!

Day 25 of 30 days of gratitude…unlimited possibility!

As I approach the 7th year of building my laptop business from home (that started out part-time 10-15 hours a week, and has become full-time, 20-25 hours per week), I am reminded of the early days of fear, hesitation and trepidation I had.

Starting anything new is scary. Period. (this pic is my WHY vision card I carried with me everywhere to push me through those early scary times)

Kim MacGregor WHY vision cardKim MacGrgeor WHY vision card part 2

There is self doubt, fear of the unknown and nervousness. I have come to learn that  those feelings are all completely normal. In fact they are good….a sign that you are about to stretch your comfort zone.

But perhaps the most awesome thing about beginning something new is the unlimited possibility that YOU create. You begin at ground zero…with NOTHING but an idea, a hope and a VISION…and from that little seed you have the ability to create something as BIG as your vision can hold. Now that’s powerful!

Today as I left a meeting at a coffee shop with an absolutely AMAZING human being that I feel so grateful to know so much better after our coffee-date today, I was FILLED UP with joy and gratitude listening to my girls tell me all about the progress they made on the BIG project they’re working on.

I feel overwhelmed with gratitude 1st) Because I get to enjoy a third summer hanging out with my girls while I build my business and they develop their project,  2nd) Because of the UNLIMITED possibility I chose to believe in almost 7-years-ago when THIS very life-by-design was nothing more than an idea, a wish, a picture in my mind of how I truly wanted to live.

Now as I watch my girls develop their big project, that started with a simple idea, and I see and feel their joy, confidence and excitement grow as they make this a reality for themselves….I acknowledge the brilliance of watching unlimited possibility unfold once again. It is that same power that self development guru Tony Robins refers to as, “Unleashing the power within.”

We ALL have it within us. We just have to acknowledge it and then GO FOR IT, be ALL IN and BELIEVE it is ours to create!

The unlimited possibility that lays within in one of us is pretty darn amazing! TODAY I am truly grateful for it all and the truth that the BEST is YET TO COME!!!

What are YOU dreaming of? What could you do differently to begin to honour your unlimited possibility today?

Never stop believing one person can make a difference…that one person is YOU!

Day 24 of 30 days of gratitude…health!

Nothing is as important to a good life, arguably, than our health and yet we so often take it for granted. Raising a young daughter who deals with her health condition DAILY (cystic fibrosis), with such grace, strength and resilience is an incredible lesson for all of us who live with her.

She has gone through various phases of resistance to treatment. As a busy young girl Madison did NOT want to stop her activities and do her physio twice a day for an hour each time, not surprising, how many young kids would? Luckily I could do “clapping” physiotherapy on her chest when she was younger.

Today, at the tender young age of 18-years-old, not only am I incredibly grateful for my girl and her great health, but so is SHE. I suppose it’s part of her “maturation” and growing up, mixed with a change of lifestyle, she has just in the past month come to a full appreciation and realization that her health is paramount and something she NEEDS to take full responsibility for, in order to live out all her great big wild ambitions and dreams.

For years, Madison has used a nebulizer machine before her physiotherapy to inhale a saline solution, and on occasions she has had to use the machine to inhale medications. The nebulizers she has used over the years are LARGE, LOUD and SLOW. Fortunately last month, we were able to SERIOUSLY upgrade her machine to the new and improved European model that is finally available in Canada – at a ticket price of $1,500 (No additional health coverage!).

It’s amazing to see how much more effective this is, and as a result, how much MORE she actually does her physiotherapy. It’s gone from an arduous hour a day-twice a day, to about 20 minutes she now does 3 times a day, throughout the day. It is incredibly important that as she grows older and her life and responsibilities increase, she has an easy to implement and easy to travel with system to keep her body and lungs healthy!

So today, I am beyond grateful for our new Pari-nebeulizer and for Madison’s beautiful health!!! It really and truly is the little things that are the BIGGEST things isn’t it!!!

Spread your wings and soar!

There is ONE thing that is more debilitating, crippling and growth-stunting than just about anything. It prevents people from TRYING new things & STOPS them once they have started. It makes them lose sleep, miss opportunities and remain stuck. The craziest thing about it – is that is isn’t based on anything REAL – it’s rooted in the INVISIBLE, in the down side of “what if,” in the negative voices that take up space in our minds convincing us we can’t…we shouldn’t…why bother. Sometimes it comes from us, sometimes it infiltrates our hearts through the words of a partner or friend casting a shadow of doubt. But like a shadow it isn’t tangible – you can’t touch it – and it doesn’t truly exist once we turn on our own light.

What is it you ask?

FEAR!

While fear is something we all face in moments of decision and change, it is only once we PUSH THROUGH IT that we are transformed. What awaits on the other side of FEAR is FREEDOM! Freedom to venture into the unknown, FREEDOM to discover aspects of ourselves we would otherwise never realize, FREEDOM to try new things…FREEDOM to live…to truly LIVE. Imagine if the caterpillar remained safely wrapped in her cocoon for fear of how challenging her first flight would be? For the countless times I have faced my fears and DECIDED to try it anyway (despite a sick stomach) I AM GRATEFUL…those were the most exciting chapters of my life story…the moments when life changed forever.

The other day my 15yr old was ready to launch her first blog. While it was something she had planned and prepared for and talked about, when the time finally came to launch her first post, FEAR crept in. What if no one likes it? What if I sound foolish? What if it’s not that great?

“Remember all the reasons you wanted to do this and remember that the only way to find out is to TRY!” I reminded her (as I have so often had to remind myself).

After about 45 min with her finger hovering over the “PUBLISH” button, her cheeks flushed, her heart racing, she held her breath…and pressed the button. Within minutes you could see relief that she had BEGUN and by the following day her creativity was renewed, she wrote a new post, and is eager and ready to post again next week. Fear is like that bully in class, who when you stood up to them, they backed down, and got quiet.

I felt so incredibly proud of her in that moment. Those are the minutes that define us-when we take that leap, venture into the unknown and test what we are made of. Better we try and try and try again than to give in to the dark voice that lulls us into a false sense of security and keeps us STUCK in status quo.

Let this be a challenge to us all to try something new this year…to face our fears and do it anyway…to discover some new side of ourselves we never knew existed…to spread our wings and soar.

spread your wings and soar

Thank you for being a part of this journey.

Never stop believing one person can make a difference… that one person is YOU!

30 Days of Learning – Be Open to New Opportunities

In my attempt to expand my knowledge and grow (as well as to learn how to master this whole blogging experience and be more consistent with it) I have taken on a challenge from my dear friend Anastacia Brice at 30daysoflearning.com

First, you must know that I believe Anastacia is an AMAZING WOMAN!

Beautiful & inspiring Anastacia Brice

Anastacia joined the I Believe She’s Amazing journey rather early on. After watching the video and being extremely “moved” by it she sent me a beautiful email message. I learned that she happened to be the founder of the world of Virtual Assistance, having created AssistU She is also a professional coach, a writer, a community builder, the founder of the 30-Day Projects, a Salon host, and… so much more, because she loves to do fun, loving, and worthwhile things. She was on to building a new Internet delight…The Friendship Salon: 30 days to Deepening friendships. She posted the I Believe She’s Amazing video to her site and she invited me to do a fabulous interview by phone for her June installation of guests, called Inspiring Friendships and their ability to transform our lives.

My interview with Anastacia was booked for about a month. A day before the interview I got a special opportunity to bring my 11-yr-old daughter Madison with me to meet the 21 delegates from the G(irls) 20 for the launch of the Dove Movement – I have written so much about! I couldn’t pass up the chance to expose my daughter to such INSPIRATION so I decided to do BOTH! The launch went longer than scheduled (doesn’t that always happen when you have another commitment?), I had about 45 minutes to prepare and find a quiet spot to do the interview by phone. There was so much noise in the building as people milled about engaged in conversation. Madison and I couldn’t find a good location anywhere, not even outside, where lunch hour traffic in the area was bustling, and my 45 minutes had dissolved to just 5 minutes.

so……….

Madison and I went down the hall from where the launch had taken place, in search of a quiet room. All we could find (that was empty) was a large single bathroom, which just HAPPENED to have an extra wooden chair in it, positioned next to the toilet (divine intervention shows up in the smallest and most peculiar of ways). BINGO! This was our spot!

Madison looked at me for a moment with an expression of, “Oh please don’t let her be serious!”

I gave Madison the best seat in the room (the wooden chair beside the toilet), I put the toilet seat down and sat on top of it. For an hour, we hid in the quiet bathroom stall, with only one knock on the door, and a few whispers from Madison about how hungry and bored she was getting. Anastacia and I had a good laugh over it-as did Maddie and I, over lunch. It is a moment I will NEVER forget. One of those crazy mompreneur moments that only happen once (thank God for Madison), but leave a lasting memory.

The interview was wonderful, Anastacia was gracious and kind and I know we both felt a connection of deeper friendship brewing. When I got a Facebook message about this opportunity with the lovely and inspiring Anastacia I thought this is the right thing to do now. To push me beyond my comfort zone…to learn something new every day for 30 days of September. I will attempt to write a blog post about each new thing – each new day (now that’s a test in itself).

Join me and lots of other lifetime learners if you’re up for the challenge, and share what you learn in 30 days. You can find out all the juicy details at Anastacia’s site the link is 30daysoflearning.com

A big thanks to the AMAZING Anastacia for creating this idea and inviting me to stretch my thinking! The first thing I have learned today is to be open to new opportunities that may come your way, that can help you grow as a person and/or entrepreneur…like this challenge!

And so it is that day ONE of 30 days of learning begins! Speaking of ONE…Remember ONE person can make a difference…that one person is YOU!

With love,

Kim
